It’s that time again! I can’t believe Alayna turned 9 a few weeks ago. Every year, we always throw a big party at the house with friends & family. This year, she requested a baking party.
Now I am all for her learning to bake but 7 more 9 years olds baking just seemed like a huge disaster. So instead, Alayna baked the cupcakes ahead of time and everyone was able to decorate cupcakes.
I absolutely love decorating for parties and supporting small business are my favorite. Etsy is always my go-to when looking for invitations and banners. While browsing one night, I came across this adorable little shop called Print a Party Co owned by the sweetest mama!
Away I went, printing these adorable invitations, banners, cupcake toppers and signs. Luckily for me, I decided to do this on the season opening of The Bachelor and it was a 3 hour special! So cutting everything out went by pretty quickly.
No one was as excited as Alayna when her official party day came. She love being able to help me put all of the decorations together and place them around the house. For the banner, we used bakers twine and glue dots ( my new favorite thing!).
We used the cupcake toppers to turn our boring plain fans (purchased at Walmart) to awesome baking themed fans!
Sticking with the pastel colors, we purchased tablecloths (each $.98), matching plates/cups ($.98 for 10 pack) and a cupcake piñata ($14) to tie our party together all purchased from Walmart.
Here is a quick overview of the party room.
The balloons were purchased off of Amazon and I would definitely NOT recommend. Throughout the party the balloons were randomly popping and more than half had small holes that deflated them mid-party.
As requested, the desert table included cupcake stands (Amazon), Rice Krispy balls, sugar cookies, various colors of icing/sprinkles and toppings for cupcakes.
This area was also designated as our “Cupcake Decorating Station“. Each baker would grab a painting tray (Amazon), a cupcake and fill the tray with items to decorate with. Each baker decorated 2 cupcakes, one to eat now and then one to eat when we sang Happy Birthday.
As her party was a bit later in the day, we decided on doing a “sub bar”. We offered various meats, cheeses, breads and toppings. This was a huge hit and so easy to put together.
For entertainment, our party guests LOVED this super adorable Ice Cream Cup Cake Truck (Amazon). Not only did it go perfect with our theme but it kept the kiddos busy for hours.
We have had a ton of play tents in the past that have broken within a week of having them so normally this wouldn’t be something I would have out for seven 9 year olds and several toddlers to play with BUT those tents all had plastic poles. The quality of this play tent is AMAZING as it has METAL poles. Yep, Metal poles!
The actual structure of the Truck is extremely sturdy. The tent part is also made from a very thick canvas that wiped clean after our sticky finger toddlers left.
With the mesh windshield, removable awning, realistic design and it’s sturdiness, it’s no wonder this Truck was a huge hit with children and parents alike.
Alayna’s party was a huge success and we are so thankful to the wonderful and generous companies that we were able to work with!
