🌸 How was your Easter? 🌸 We spent the day 🌸 How was your Easter? 🌸

We spent the day dying eggs, hunting for candy and spending time as a family.

I even cooked Easter dinner by myself this year. It was edible but I won’t be recommending that for next year 😅

This holiday seemed a bit out of place. Especially as we are gearing up for a huge move and their dad states away.

Although, through it all, it was a successful Easter and we are excited to see what the next year will bring.

How was your holiday weekend?

That is, unless your in Florida! Last year, this time, we were dodging puddles, losing umbrellas and hoping for an ounce of sunshine.

This year, we are struggling with allergies more than ever and I really think it has to do with the lack of rain we’ve been receiving.

Plus, there is no better way to binge watch shows (or the new season of @younetflix ) then with a rainstorm and a warm blanket.

How’s the weather in your area? Are you summoning a rain-dance with me or begging for sunshine?

👏🏻 Wash your hands! 👏🏻 Spring break m 👏🏻 Wash your hands! 👏🏻

Spring break means that the kids will be spending more time at home making messes.

For Brandtley, that’s meant more time to play in his dirt pit & Alayna has been trying out new recipes - edible cookie dough anyone? 🍪

@kirkssoap has been our favorite natural soap to keep around during clean up. Not only is it vegan, hypoallergenic and has been all natural since 1839 but it’s also cruelty-free! As an animal lover and cat/bunny owner - we love this!

Did we mention it’s a family-owned company? Support a small business and have soft hands and a worry free product. ❤️

🐣 Easter & Minimalism 🐣 Let’s face it, we 🐣 Easter & Minimalism 🐣

Let’s face it, we buy our kids a lot of useless things for the holidays. Tiny trinkets/toys that become lost in a few days or worse—broken.

Living a more minimal lifestyle has forced me to really think about the items I’m bringing into my home. It has to be something consumable (so it’s gone quickly) or geared towards learning.

@playosmo has been in our lives for 2 years now! They have always been our favorite educational games for our 4 year old and 10 year old! Our kids love them so much, they are always asking for the next new Osmo game at every holiday.

The newest game to add to our collection is the Detective Agency. The object of the game is to solve a mystery using the clues, map and magnifying glass.

This game is 100% Easter Bunny (& mom) approved 🐰

Easter Sales (up to 30% OFF!) on Amazon, PlayOsmo.com, and local retailers!

The Easter Bunny in our house always favors @russellstoverus chocolate and good thing because we do too!

The hollow bunnies are always a huge favorite and the marshmallow eggs remind me of childhood.

🤍PPD doesn’t just affect you. It affects ever 🤍PPD doesn’t just affect you. It affects everyone surrounding you.

Imagine feeling unbearable pain every time your child cry’s. Every whimper, every noise - you run to fix it.

Never putting him down and rarely saying no because the crying - it just hurts.

Repeating to your spouse how tired and overwhelmed you are but never jumping at a break when it’s offered.

Your life feels like it’s in shambles but this, the crying - that you can control and fix. It’s the only thing you can fix.

This was my life for years. I created my own prison. And I blamed everything and everyone else.

My family tiptoed around me. My kids became used to me crying all of the time. I was horrendous to be around.

I lost myself. I almost lost my marriage.

My PPD was hard to get out of. Like I said, it took YEARS of struggling to make it to where I’m at today.

The struggles were hard but no one talks about what comes after. The aftermath.

I’ve had to clean up a lot of awful habits I’ve created. Like teaching my son that he can’t just get what he wants by crying or screaming anymore. No is finally a word I can use again.

Co-sleeping with a toddler isn’t on the table anymore. I finally have my bed back. Would you believe it if I told you last week was the first time I’ve slept through the night in almost 4 years 🤯. Thanks Uncle Harris (@harrislion16 ) for helping me with this.

I’ve also had to repair my relationship with my daughter. I wasn’t as nurturing and understand as I should have been with her. I felt like my struggles were so much bigger and I was already stretched so thin.

My recovery is an uphill battle. I refuse to live that life I once lived.

If your stuck in the aftermath just remember, this is normal! This is a part of it.

There is always a little bit of cleanup, even after the smallest of storms. 🌈
🐘 Let’s address the elephant in the room!

👉🏻 Comparison 👈🏻

I mentioned on my stories today how your value is not determined on how many likes you receive or how many followers you have.

So many of you reached out and shared your struggles with comparing yourself to others on this platform.

Many of you mentioned a direct relation between your depression and comparing.

My heart aches for those who are struggling and only see these perfect influencers who seem to have it all together. Life is not like that.

We’ve all been told Instagram is a highlight reel. It shouldn’t be.

That mom who just spent the whole day trying to survive her two toddlers, should be able to see another mama openly speak about struggling; Just to know she isn’t alone.

We frown upon the “imperfect” and it needs to stop.

To any struggling mama out there. I’m not perfect. My house is almost always a mess. My laundry stacks up on the dining room table during the week and my ten year old cooks better than I can. There is always a running to do list and it will always be that way.

You are not alone.

Let’s bring #authenticity back to the gram. We all could benefit a little more from it ❤️
✨ Just remembered we still have TWO more days on ✨ Just remembered we still have TWO more days on our @universalorlando passes! ✨

As I’m sitting here, with no voice and the worst sickness I’ve felt in a while - I can’t help but look back on how much this year has changed our families.

The introvert in me loves certain aspects that have turned normal over the last year.

•curbside pickup
•contactless check in at hotels
•strangers distancing themselves
•buying everything online
•less people everywhere
•more family time

It’s also helped me realize that
•messy homes are loved homes
•nobody has it all together
•my laundry will never be finished not matter how much time I have.

There are positive aspects in even the darkest times. It’s important that we continue to look forward and appreciate where we are at in this crazy life.

🤍 Share with me something positive you’ve had happen or realized over the past year! 🤍

Universal Day 1 Tips Part 2 Afternoon of January Universal Day 1 Tips Part 2

Afternoon of January 30th (Saturday)

The return of the Mummy ride was an easy favorite over at Universal! It rarely has waits but it is a fun high speed coaster.

Then we went onto Transformers. It was okay. It was a 3D ride which was interesting. I wouldn’t wait more than 15 minutes for it though.

The Simpsons ride was fun but be warned. If 3D rides make you nauseous, you may want to skip this one. The wait becomes long for this one so hit it in the early afternoon to avoid that.

Men in black was a fun ride where you blast the aliens. Not much of a thrill but a fun way to break up the day.

Now back on the train (2:30 pm ish) to Island of Adventure the train is interactive and is different each way through the park.

Onto Skull Island! We had high hopes for this 3D ride but unfortunately it was a 45 minute wait and the screens broke down during our ride 🤷🏻‍♀️

Jurassic Park opened back up this day after being closed for refurbishment! We waited 45 minutes and I’d say it was worth it! We did get wet but not drenched which was a plus. While waiting, if you time it right, you can watch the raptor meet and great next door from the line.

We grabbed lunch at Blondies by the water rides. They seem to be the only place that sells food that isn’t hot. We ordered subs and they were sooo good! Everything is mobile ordering so make sure to set it up on your phone before you go to make ordering easier.

From their we hit Dudley do-rights ripsaw falls and Popeyes barge in the freezing 65 degree weather. Do not recommend. We didn’t take into account how wet we would be (even with ponchos). Our shoes were soaked and made for a rough rest of the day.

Then we finished up at the Cat and the hat area and rode all of the small rides - just to check them off our list. Super quick and next to no wait for any of them.

12 hours and we conquered the whole park! Have you every been to @universalorlando ?
