JESS ♥ Florida Blogger
🐘 Let’s address the elephant in the room!

👉🏻 Comparison 👈🏻

I mentioned on my stories today how your value is not determined on how many likes you receive or how many followers you have.

So many of you reached out and shared your struggles with comparing yourself to others on this platform.

Many of you mentioned a direct relation between your depression and comparing.

My heart aches for those who are struggling and only see these perfect influencers who seem to have it all together. Life is not like that.

We’ve all been told Instagram is a highlight reel. It shouldn’t be.

That mom who just spent the whole day trying to survive her two toddlers, should be able to see another mama openly speak about struggling; Just to know she isn’t alone.

We frown upon the “imperfect” and it needs to stop.

To any struggling mama out there. I’m not perfect. My house is almost always a mess. My laundry stacks up on the dining room table during the week and my ten year old cooks better than I can. There is always a running to do list and it will always be that way.

You are not alone.

Let’s bring #authenticity back to the gram. We all could benefit a little more from it ❤️
✨ Just remembered we still have TWO more days on ✨ Just remembered we still have TWO more days on our @universalorlando passes! ✨

As I’m sitting here, with no voice and the worst sickness I’ve felt in a while - I can’t help but look back on how much this year has changed our families.

The introvert in me loves certain aspects that have turned normal over the last year.

•curbside pickup
•contactless check in at hotels
•strangers distancing themselves
•buying everything online
•less people everywhere
•more family time

It’s also helped me realize that
•messy homes are loved homes
•nobody has it all together
•my laundry will never be finished not matter how much time I have.

There are positive aspects in even the darkest times. It’s important that we continue to look forward and appreciate where we are at in this crazy life.

🤍 Share with me something positive you’ve had happen or realized over the past year! 🤍

Universal Day 1 Tips Part 2 Afternoon of January Universal Day 1 Tips Part 2

Afternoon of January 30th (Saturday)

The return of the Mummy ride was an easy favorite over at Universal! It rarely has waits but it is a fun high speed coaster.

Then we went onto Transformers. It was okay. It was a 3D ride which was interesting. I wouldn’t wait more than 15 minutes for it though.

The Simpsons ride was fun but be warned. If 3D rides make you nauseous, you may want to skip this one. The wait becomes long for this one so hit it in the early afternoon to avoid that.

Men in black was a fun ride where you blast the aliens. Not much of a thrill but a fun way to break up the day.

Now back on the train (2:30 pm ish) to Island of Adventure the train is interactive and is different each way through the park.

Onto Skull Island! We had high hopes for this 3D ride but unfortunately it was a 45 minute wait and the screens broke down during our ride 🤷🏻‍♀️

Jurassic Park opened back up this day after being closed for refurbishment! We waited 45 minutes and I’d say it was worth it! We did get wet but not drenched which was a plus. While waiting, if you time it right, you can watch the raptor meet and great next door from the line.

We grabbed lunch at Blondies by the water rides. They seem to be the only place that sells food that isn’t hot. We ordered subs and they were sooo good! Everything is mobile ordering so make sure to set it up on your phone before you go to make ordering easier.

From their we hit Dudley do-rights ripsaw falls and Popeyes barge in the freezing 65 degree weather. Do not recommend. We didn’t take into account how wet we would be (even with ponchos). Our shoes were soaked and made for a rough rest of the day.

Then we finished up at the Cat and the hat area and rode all of the small rides - just to check them off our list. Super quick and next to no wait for any of them.

12 hours and we conquered the whole park! Have you every been to @universalorlando ?
Universal Day 1 Tips Part 1 January 30th (Saturda Universal Day 1 Tips Part 1

January 30th (Saturday)
6:30 am wake up.
7:00 am at the gates of Island of Adventure

They opened the gates early at 7:45! It pays to be early as the line to enter becomes long!

We stayed at a Universal hotel (@universalorlandohotels )and were able to enter the park an hour before it opened. (Usually opens at 9). Must bring your room key to show proof!

We literally ran to HAGRIDS motorbike adventure and walked onto the ride. 👏🏻👏🏻
If you ask us, it’s the best ride but make sure to do it first when the park opens. We wanted to go on it again but the line was ALREADY 100 minutes.

Crossed the path to The Forgotten Journey. This is seriously an underrated ride! The walk through the castle was gorgeous as there are so many things to see. It was an easy walk on with no wait - we went on it twice!

Flight of the Hippogriff was next. Not a favorite. Doesn’t go very fast and is over in a quick minute 👎🏻

@universalorlando opens up at 10am. We got to the front of the Hogsmeade station at 9:40. They start letting everyone through at 9:45. Don’t worry about getting there any earlier. There is no area to wait for the train to open as it’s blocked by the HAGRIDS motorbike line. You must have a park to park ticket to ride the train.

Crossing over to Universal Studios, we went to Escape from gringotts. I can’t stress this enough - wear a Fanny pack! Otherwise you will be using lockers for every ride as they don’t allow bags on 80% of them but Fanny packs are approved. This was an awesome 3D/4D ride. No wait here, we walked right on twice!

Make sure to also take a few minutes to watch the dragon breath fire over gringotts. Many people jumped and a few fell over. It seems to go off every 30 minutes.

We’re roughly at 11:00. Hang in there for Part 2 . We literally narrowed down the best route to take to ride every ride at Universal!
😔 Anxiety & Depression 😔 I’m sharing my s 😔 Anxiety & Depression 😔

I’m sharing my story with you in the slides above in hopes that it helps someone.

I hope it reaches that one person who :

•feels overwhelmed, exhausted and alone.

•That wants so badly to explain how they feel but just can’t find the words.

•Or that is trying to hide from everyone when they are really trying to ask for help without being a burden.

It’s hard. But it can get better.

•Cry when you need to
•Let others help you or teach them how
•Learn what triggers you
•Do something for yourself
•Take each day as it comes

As always, I am an open book and if you need anyone to talk to - I’m just a DM away. Judgement free.

🌿 Some things are out of our control 🌿⁣
⁣
Let me say that a little bit louder “OUT OF OUR CONTROL!” ⁣
⁣
Kinda like our several hour long delayed flight from Charleston , SC to Punta Gorda, FL with kids the day before New Years but did we really think 2020 was going to walk away quietly? 🤦🏻‍♀️⁣
⁣
2020 was a whirlwind. It made us question every decision we made. It forced us all to become closer and even weeded out some bad seeds along the way. ⁣
⁣
It proved that even though everything was out of our own control, we still managed to get through it. It was a hard year for many - us included, but it taught us the importance of family and personal growth. ⁣
⁣
🤍 What was something good that came out of 2020 for you? 🤍⁣
⁣
By the way, the @lilyjadeco Caroline bag was a lifesaver going through TSA with 2 kiddos. It held everything in convenient compartments and wasn’t heavy on my back at all. Even hid some of my secret snacks 🤫I absolutely LOVEEEE this bag!⁣
⁣
✈️ Swipe to see B passed out on our flight (this was roughly 1am) ✈️ ⁣

⛄️Spirit week, they love it - I despise it. ⛄️⠀
⠀
It’s that glorious time of the year when we are all stressing to finish up last minute to-do’s for Christmas and *BAM* school spirit week hits. ⠀
⠀
I love that my kids love spirit week. I love it too! But let me tell you what I don’t love :⠀
⠀
*Running around to buy everything they need⠀
*Keeping track of the days⠀
*Hiding the stuff till that specific spirit day⠀
*The tantrums over my oldest needing everything to be perfect; ie- my outfit needs to be better than Suzys. ⠀
⠀
😤 Y’all, I swear - my child feels like this week is New York Fashion Week pre-covid with millions of students lined up the halls just to see what over the top outfit she has lined up for them and if she can out-beat the competition. ⠀
⠀
Meanwhile, my boy is just glad to wear a dollar tree headband and pajamas all week. 🤷🏻‍♀️⠀
⠀
Those with headstrong girls here’s my advice. 👉🏻Keep your wine fridge stocked 👈🏻
🎁 Have you finished all of your shopping yet? 🎁

I’m so glad to say that we are DONE!

This year we are focusing on more meaningful gifts for the kids. I want to try a more minimalistic approach with our playroom and the amount of toys we have come into our home.

On our list this year, we included educational games, outdoor activities and experiences. Things that will last for YEARS not low quality items that will make their way into the garage come January.

We are huge advocates of @playosmo for our go-to educational games in this house! We purchased several sets last Christmas and they are still a big hit with the kids.

The newest addition to our collection is the Osmo Math Wizard and The Secrets of The Dragons. It comes with this adorable journal to keep track of all of the dragons you find, feed and grow! It’s all about estimating and measuring - something I even need help with honestly 😂

👇🏻What kind of toys/games are your kids begging for this year? 👇🏻
⁣🕎 One more day! 🕎⠀ ⠀ I get this quest ⁣🕎 One more day! 🕎⠀
⠀
I get this question all the time! ⠀
⠀
👉🏻 Are you Jewish? Not really⠀
👉🏻 Then why do you celebrate Hanukkah?⠀
⠀
✨Let me explain the short version. My husband’s father was a Rabbi. It’s part of his “upbringing” if you will and my oldest wanted to learn and celebrate it. Thus, it became tradition for us. ⠀
⠀
✨Here’s the long version. From the very early start of our parenting journey, Adam and I were both on the same page about religion. ⠀
⠀
We would not push our kids into a specific religion. I know, I know! Way out of the norm in America but hear me out first! ⠀
⠀
We want them to choose. We want them to grow up knowing it’s okay to have different beliefs. There is not just one good choice, there are millions of spectacular religions all with their own customs/traditions. ⠀
⠀
We have friends who are Jewish, southern baptist, Catholics, Atheist, etc. and we love them all the same. ⠀
⠀
Our children learn about Jesus during the Christmas holiday and they know all about the Maccabees and the reasoning behind Hanukkah. If we choose to celebrate it, believe me - we do our research as a family! ⠀
⠀
One year Alayna had a classmate who mentioned that she doesn’t celebrate Christmas, Easter or birthdays. She was a Jehovah’s Witness. While the other children made fun of her and shunned her, Alayna accepted her and became friends with her, despite how “different” she was. ⠀
⠀
👏🏻 THIS is why we do what we do 👏🏻⠀
⠀
Our way of parenting on this topic is not the norm and we are completely aware of it. We also do not expect other parents to do what we do. ⠀
⠀
❤ Our main focus is to try and teach our children acceptance. To love everyone no matter their beliefs. ❤⠀
⠀
